A VERY OLD Quilt

...was just finished this weekend! I started this in the early 1980's before I had children. I was young and just learning how to quilt back then.  It has been partially quilted for all this time, but it was taking up space in the studio so I decided to complete it. You can see how faded the black fabric is compared to the new black binding.

It was an Amish inspired design, all solids, jewel tones, and all black thread quilting. I was in a quilting group back then with my mom and each member contributed a block to me.

I had to guess the age so somewhere near my name I quilted the years, 1983 and 2013. I am guessing it is about  thirty years old. Everybody in my family likes it, my son walked in and said, "Oh yeah, going Gothic"
Which I thought was funny, so I gave it to him.

Otis always has to try out each new quilt. He approves.

On to other projects! yeah!

Happy Easter

...and these are not bunnies!  These are my Andy Warhol cats. I drew my cat over and over again. Once I start water coloring I cannot stop, it is so relaxing and addicting.

This is a little piece I worked on this week. Techniques: discharged dye out of the leaves, trapunto, quilting, machine stitching, gelli prints, felted flowers. It is a recurring theme I got from a book once upon a time about medieval people and their suspicions, little people inside houses looking out windows "at something".
One more day of vacation!

Bikes In Trees is on its way to it's home.

I am enjoying our spring weather here in southern California. It has really been beautiful the last few days. It is especially sweet because I am on Spring Break! Yeah!

Springtime

I worked on a new project last weekend and wound up experimenting with stencils, my new machine, hand dyed fabrics, spray dyes, some felted pieces, and lots of quilting.

I started a new quilt top today too.  I had to, its International Quilting Day!

One more week and I am on spring break!

I have been working on some little projects lately, mostly as a result of the stencil hop a few weeks ago. I ordered and made a bunch of stencils. I have been using for several projects with fabric and paper. I also made a "stamp" with hot glue and cardboard for a special project for my son.

The above are all fabrics, spray stenciled and also have selected sections dabbed with fabric paint to highlight them a little more.

This is water color paper stenciled and some additional embellishments added on with silver and gold marker, white paint marker, acrylic paint, and colored pencils.
FUN FUN FUN, there are not enough hours in the day for all the stuff I want to do.

Valentine Graffiti

I have been very inspired by the Stencil Blog Hop and created some small pieces about hearts.

This second piece, below, was cut in half. I used half of it to create a small zipper bag and the other half hung on my front door the week of February 14th.

Cats On Quilts

My sister made me this little accordian book for Christmas called "Cats On Quilts". She used many of my blog pictures to create this little masterpiece. It is very cute and very treasured. She is extremely talented with the crafty projects. Thanks Betsy!
