Art Journaling

These pages are inspired by one of my favorite lyrics from Scarlet Begonias by the Grateful Dead, "the sky was yellow and the sun was blue". I used a lot of gelli printed deli paper, stencils, paint.

...and another face. This is the first page of the journal. I am new to art journaling and have been watching online videos and reading books and I love the idea of creating little experiments of art, what a great resource!

Yeah, there's more faces here

Otie Patotie, commonly known as Otis.

I recently received some new stencils in the mail and used them on some of my faces. I am feeling the urge to quilt/sew soon and my machine is getting its yearly maintenance right now. When it returns to me I have PROJECTS to begin.

Green Day

I don't think I've ever posted this quilt, that I refer to as our wedding quilt or "Sweethearts of the Rodeo". It is a traditional medallion quilt that I made a few years ago because I absolutely loved the green/rose border fabric so much. I still love it. These pictures are terrible, they don't even look green here. It is all free motion quilted all over with various patterns.

I am still drawing faces too, I can't stop. I am getting into art journals too lately. So much fun to experiment with art supplies. SO. MUCH. FUN.

I am reading Solomon Northup's book about being a slave in the early to mid 19th century. It is highly informative and interesting and well worth reading. I highly recommend it.

I am still drawing faces too.

More Faces

I can't believe I am still doing faces at this point. When I am tired after work it's easy to sit and draw. I usually don't have much energy during the week after work.
