Two Suns

I can't believe its been so long since I've posted. I've had a nice relaxing summer and I haven't done much creating. I did attempt to make a small art quilt based on my painting Two Suns. I have to admit I have been in a bit of a creative slump this summer. Its conflicting I'll say that when you want to create something and you have everything you need to make a millions things and you go in your studio and have no idea what to do. I know its a phase and will pass in time.

Back to work in a little over a week!

Knitting

Drachenfels is a sweet pattern and a nice size found on Ravelry. I followed the pattern but sort free wheeled with some of the striping. It looks like fall!  I used a lot of leftover fingering yarn from other projects to complete. Then I got all excited and did some retail therapy (see below).

I can't remember this pattern, also on Ravelry, again using leftovers.

Ouch, I bought a little yarn. The real superstar here is.....
.........this one! Flourescent pink Madeline Tosh Merino Light. Wow, I love this color.
Now I have to get busy.

I've been on a real knitting jag for several weeks, I just don't seem to have taken any pictures of the knitting. Also I can't seem to put the water colors away to make space for the sewing machine. Its a problem. Like I need another studio problem. WHICH. WILL. BE. NEVER.
I love to paint, I kind of don't even care what it is, but once I start I can't stop. Somehow I need to explore putting some water color imagery onto fabric. I'll work on that.

Trailer Time

This is by far the largest stamp I've ever created. Its about 5" x 7"!!! I made it so I could stamp some appliques for some dish towels for my sister who owns a vintage trailer and camps all the time with it, and I forgot to take pictures of the finished project!! Oh well. I fused them onto some dish towels and then free motion quilted all the black parts.

Stamp Storage

I finally found some stamp storage with these photo boxes from Joannes. Each big box holds 16 little containers inside. I bought two and still have space for more stamps. It's hard to find shallow boxes for stamps, but these work okay because they are only a little over an inch deep and I can put stamp sets together in them. I stamped two papers (front and back side of box) to show what stamps are inside, and then labeled the top  like "Birds" etc. to indicate what is inside.

Two new stamps, half flower mirror repeat and hedge hog.

Carve Stamp Play by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer continues to be such an inspiration. Her blog is wonderful too,  balzardesigns.typepad.com
She has inspired a lot of my carvings, especially the pods, the homes set, and the tiles.
In the new year I hope to carve more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
