Take Me Back to the Garden Auction Quilts

Kindergarten Class

These are some little art quilts created by kindergarten and first grade students, with my help, to auction away at our school. The students create their art and then it is transferred to white cotton with black fabric markers. After that the students color with crayon directly onto the fabric. I collect all their art and attach fusing to the back and cut them out.

Then the fun begins....for me! I use some of my hand dyed fabrics for the background and play with the pieces until I get a composition that is pleasing. Everything is fused down and then quilted with black thread. I usually add some little details here and there to enhance the "sketch-like" quality.
I tried to make them all the same size and they are roughly about 25 x 25 inches.

I took these pictures in my classroom. I made a few more (total of 6). I'll post those later.
